In the case of an employee, I agree to report to HR:
-
- The offer or receipt of any gift, gratuity, favor, entertainment, loan or any other thing of monetary value, either directly or indirectly, from any person, firm, corporation, or other entity unless it meets one of the exceptions listed below.
Gifts, gratuities, favors, or entertainment bestowed on members of immediate families of TFCU employees are viewed in the same light as those bestowed on employees.
A gift, gratuity, favor, or entertainment includes any tangible item, intangible benefits, discounts, tickets, passes, transportation, and accommodations or hospitality given or extended to or on behalf of the recipient. However, the restrictions do not apply to the following:
-
- The acceptance of meals, refreshments, or entertainment, all of reasonable value and in the course of a meeting or other occasion the purpose of which is to hold bona fide business discussions, provided these expenses would be paid for by the credit union if not paid for by the other party as a reasonable business expense. Reasonable value is defined as $100 or less.
- Gatherings for training or discussion of matters of mutual interest to TFCU and other participants sponsored, for example, by Associations, Accounting Firms, Legal Firms, etc.
- Specialty advertising or promotional items of reasonable value. Reasonable value for purposes of this exception is defined as $50 or less.
- The acceptance of gifts, gratuities, amenities, or favors based on obvious family or personal relationships (such as those between the parents, children, or spouse of a Credit Union Official) where the circumstances make it clear that it is those relationships rather than the business of the credit union concerned which are the motivating factor.
- The acceptance of loans from other financial institutions on customary terms to finance proper and usual activities.
- The acceptance of gifts of reasonable value that are related to commonly recognized events or occasions, such as a promotion, new job, wedding, retirement, or holiday. For purposed of this exception, reasonable value is defined as $100.
- Trophies, entertainment, rewards, and prizes given to competitors in contests that are open to the general public or that are officially approved for participation by TFCU employees. This includes door prizes at credit union gatherings. Reasonable value for purposes of this exception is defined as $200 or less.
- Contractor-provided local transportation while on official business and when alternative arrangements are clearly impractical.
